Lyra was born in Brazil and has been living in Belgium since 2000. 25 years ago she decided to stop using all products coming from animals, so as to reduce taking part in the suffering and exploitation of her fellow earthlings. Her cooking style is strongly influenced by various cultures, particularly Mediterranean, African and Lebanese.
Living in Belgium has provided Lyra with the precious opportunity to enrich her cooking skills by cooking together with people from various cultural backgrounds: Mali, Finland, Turkey, Palestine, Congo, France, Italy, Germany, Ukraine, Spain, India, Poland…
Her recipes aren’t always for “beginners”, but rather for anyone who’s passionate and curious enough for the different aromas and flavors from all over the world.
She’s been teaching plant based cookery classes for various organizations in Belgium, including Vorming Plus, Femma, EVA vzw, Oxfam and Horeca Vorming Vlaanderen (for professionals of the horeca sector).
She believes that if everyone had access to delicious vegan meals, the entire world would have gone vegan by now. Her favorite motto is: “Changing the world, one bite at a time”.
Lyra shares all her recipes on this lovely blog For the Love of Cardamom
